Levelling Up Fund

The Government’s £4.8 billion Levelling up Fund aims to help communities Level Up by investing in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK, including regenerating town centres and high streets, upgrading local transport and investing in cultural and heritage assets.

Key levelling-up challenges facing Telford are the regeneration of our town centres, revitalising the visitor economy and creating opportunities for all young people to study locally and aspire to employment and higher skills. Telford & Wrekin Council submitted three bids as part of LUF Round 2.

In January 2023, we were notified that we were successful in securing £20 million Levelling Up Funding to deliver Telford’s ‘Broadening Aspirations through Education and Culture Programme’.

Then in March 2023, Government announced support for Capital Regeneration Projects (CRP) and we were notified that our LUF bid, Economic Transformation through Wellington Town Remodelling programme was successful in gaining CRP funding of £9.8 million.
